There is yet another scam to worry about on the internet.  IAC Recovery Systems, Ltd., a fake collection agency, has been sending out spam emails to individuals alleging that they owe a debt of $293.11.  However, the email does not provide any details regarding the identity of the original creditor or when the alleged debt was incurred.  In reality, IAC Recovery Systems, Ltd. is not a registered collection agency and uses a fake address and telephone number.  The Colorado Attorney General’s Office has reported that numerous consumer complaints have been received regarding the fraudulent collection agency.  Consumers must be careful to verify which collection agency is contacting them and what debt they are attempting to collect.  Consumers should not provide personal information over the phone or internet, without prior verification.
